Simple school dance outline:

1. Check out the venue beforehand with staff or student council and go over a schedule of the night and playlist (if possible)

2. Arrive extra early to the event and prepare equipment with enough time to take care of any emergency situations that arise (Backup DJs and equipment will be present at every dance).

3. Keeping a close eye on the overall mood of the dance, your DJs will play popular music that will make your school dance rock the night away, while keeping everything safe and appropriate.

4. Wind down at the end of the night, and assist in any cleanup necessary.

MSPDJs will supply all needed equipment, including but not limited to:

-Speakers (2 full sized club speakers that will be loud enough for any room at 50%) More speakers are available upon request, however our 2 Behringer speakers should do the job.

-Table

-Lights (different setups available upon request, including disco balls, strobe lights (Please be careful as these may trigger seizures or headaches) rotating club lights, multiple rotating laser lights, and much more

-Fog Machines (2-4 machines all with water-based fog)

-Wireless Mic for announcements

If you so wish, MSPDJs offers a comprehensive Edited (referred to as “Clean from this point on) Music Policy. For kids parties and Bar/Bat Mitzvah Parties, MSPDJs will play CLEAN MUSIC, and only clean music. Not only do we edit words in our songs, we have a select few songs that we avoid playing for certain age groups.

All DJs say that they will edit the music, how can we be sure there wont be a slip up?

MSPDJs actually has 2 music collections. One is a full unedited collection of thousands of songs, both appropriate and inappropiate

The  second collection features thousands of songs that are ALL clean (yes, every single one). Before any song is put into this collection, it MUST be listened to by a head staff member to ensure that it is clean.

What if a song is not clean when you listen to it?

It often happens that we find a very popular song with some inappropriate lyrics, where it is impossible to obtain an edited copy of the song. So we edit it ourselves. We have gone through hundreds of songs and edited them to keep everything as-is, except for words that shouldn’t be played for hundreds of guests at your party.

How the heck do you do that?

Using top of the line audio-editing software, MSPDJs selects the inappropriate words in a song, reverses them all in order to keep the rhythm but make the unwanted words completely inaudible. The second method our audio experts use is to mute the lyrics for the 1/2 second that we had inappropriate words, while keeping the music playing. See how it is done:

At family parties (Holiday parties with children, younger school dances, and Bar/Bat Mitzvot) MSPDJs guarantees an appropriate music selection, and a family-friendly, age-appropriate atmosphere.

Of course parties that chose not to have edited music will be have music played from both collections.

The campers didn’t know what was happening that night, and the MSPDJ team was busy all day preparing for the event. In a field, a full sound system was setup, with a low stage, lights, streamers, tiki torches, fog machine, and most importantly, a warm water supply. Logistically it was a nightmare, but at the end of the night with the torches lit, the music starting, the lights and fog machine covering the field, and most importantly the staff all standing on the stage with water-guns full of tie-dyed water. As the campers approached, the excitement grew. For 2 hours, MSPDJs ran the party as staff sprayed their tie-dye filled water guns over the field of dancing campers. After 2 hours of DJing great Israeli and Popular American music, the night ended with all the campers in newly tie-dyed shirts, having the best night of camp, heading back to their cabins to shower off and go to sleep.

Shawn Abelson - A Student at the University of Minnesota, provides the MCing for the MSPDJ entertainment group. He grew up and graduated from St. Louis Park Senior High, and attended Beth El through his years. Working at many Bar and Bat Mitzvas has given Shawn the experience and excitement that you need to MC an event. Cory Baird – Cory is a student at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. Also having graduated from St. Louis Park, Cory is the DJ that will rock and roll your night away. Having started off with the original record-spinning turn tables, Cory has moved on to digital DJ equipment, and has mastered our newest mixer, the Numark Total Control. Cory manages to not only keep on top of the cool music of his generation, but if you put him at a party with older or younger generations he will pull out the songs that will get everyone on the dance floor! MSPDJs can add to their lineup! We can add the following employees to our lineup for your event:

• Dancer – Often times kids need encouragement to get out on the dance floor and have a good time. Hiring a dancer is the best way to do this. More often than not, we will hire a female dancer to the crew to help deal with any situations that arise.
• Security – Often called “Bar/Bat Mitzvah Bouncers,” are employees that can be hired for a single event to make sure everything runs smoothly. Constantly in contact via walkie-talkie, these friendly teenagers (if 18-20 year-olds are still teenagers) often are asked to ensure that kids don’t run into the street, steal things, and generally ensure that no mischief or hooligans occur that may disrupt the flow of the night. Upon request, we may offer or Bouncers service without hire of the DJ or MC
• Other – We are always open to suggestions. Contact us with any other kind of entertainment or help you need hired to make your party run smoothly and we’ll get it done!
